insanew/nasty intervals ofsanity replied: "I take lithium 300mg, lamictal 100mg and have taken geodon in the past. Lithium can cause migraine headaches. The doctor put me on imitrex for the headaches. I had to come off geodon because of it side effects. (had a real bad experience with geodon) Here is something that may help...
The possibility of side effects varies with the level of lithium in your bloodstream. If you experience unfamiliar symptoms of any kind, inform your doctor as soon as possible.
Side effects that may occur when your taking lithium include:
Discomfort, frequent urination, hand tremor, mild thirst, nausea
Other side effects may include: Diarrhea, drowsiness, lack of coordination, muscle weakness, vomiting and headaches
Most people who take LAMICTAL can tolerate it well. However, as with all medications, some people experience side effects. The most common side effects with LAMICTAL include dizziness, headache, blurred or double vision, lack of coordination, sleepiness, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, and rash. LAMICTAL may cause other side effects not listed here. If you (or your loved one) develop any side effects or symptoms you are concerned about, or if you need more information, call your doctor.
Good luck to ya sweetie!
(Just to let you know 100mg is a therapeutic dose of Lamictal)"
Day_Dreamer replied: "I have clinical depression & those meds work for me too. The other girl was right when she said 100mg of Lamictal is not a therapeutic dose, but don't worry about that. There is a chance of a serious rash developing so doctors increase the dosage very gradually. I'm on 300mg Lamictal, and I feel so much better. Its a very good drug. Good luck."
Has anyone ever went willingly to the Pschy ward? I have been having a very difficult time these past few days, and a Monday my Pschy doctor perscribed Effexor and Ambien along with my Geodon and I took them all at bedtime, and ended up tripping out,I thought people were in my room and everything was moving and I saw weird colors, it was pretty scary as much as I could remember,I lost memory for like 2 hours. I didnt take them together last night I timed em out,but I still ended up forgetting things.I feel so weird today, kinda lost, flu like, paranoid, tired. Both of my sisters said maybe its time to check yourself in to the hospital,,I am like I am fine I am ok, but now I am really thinking about it, any help or words of advice?
Lizabella replied: "100's of people have gone to the mental ward willingly you just have be sure you really need help."
Jeff M replied: "Many people check themselves into inpatient treatment. If you had problems with your meds you should call your doctor immediately and voice your concerns. Most likely there is something else they can prescribe you. They can also talk to you about inpatient treatment and help you with where to go. Don't feel badly about inpatient treatment. You will be treated very well and surrounded by people who understand and are ready to listen and help. It can only help you."
oldetradingpost.com replied: "What does your gut tell you? Do you really think you should go because of the side effects from the meds or the reasons you have the meds in the first place? Hey, we all need help sometimes. But don't go if you really do think you can still handle it at home.
Good luck to you....."
Charlene replied: "Darlin, it sounds like you need to talk to your psychiatrist about your perscriptions and their effects. He/she could probably get you on something else."
Laura ♥ replied: "I volunteered in a hospital's psychiatric unit.
If you feel you are a danger to yourself or others, go.
Even if you feel fine, you might want to just go anyways, let the professionals evaluate you, and take it from there."
lovelorn replied: "Are you supposed to take the medications all at once? Try speaking to your doctor about your medications first. If you are still tripping out and don't know why, then maybe have someone take you to the hospital/psych ward to find out what's going on."
Hopefully Helpful replied: "I am pretty sure Effexor should not be taken at bedtime.
You should call your doctor immediately. Do not wait for your next appointment. Something went wrong on Monday night and you need to get it straightened out. NOW
Good Luck I hope you will be doing better."
GiseleBundchenWannaBe replied: "It sounds like you need to tell your Dr. that these drugs are causing very undesirable side effects. I don't know what your past medical history is, but you should def tell your Dr. about this so that he can prescribe you drugs that have less potential side/adverse effects.
I've been in a psych ward unwillingly when I was 16 yrs old, and willingly when I was doing my psychiatric clinical rotation for nursing school. I don't think there's anything wrong about going willingly to a psych ward. Everyone needs help sometimes, we're all humans. The people who go to psych wards willingly are the ones with better prognosis since they acknowledge the fact that there's something wrong with them. It's like Alcoholic Anonymous; acknowledging that you have a problem is the first step to recuperation.
I would def go to the hospital since u've experienced all those things, such as memory loss, tiredness, etc. It's good to make sure that maybe it wasn't the drugs that caused all this. Maybe u've mixed the drugs with others drugs without realizing it, you're allergic to something, you were hypotensive, hypovolemic... you never know. It's always good to make sure that everything's all right, b/c when something's wrong, the prognosis is always better when it's treated in its early stages."
serene e replied: "Of course, go ahead and check yourself in. It's the best course of action to get the help you need. My friend just did it a couple weeks ago and he really needed to go so he wouldn't hurt himself or someone else."
le fantôme dans le désert replied: "i would never willingly go to a psyche ward no way. dead then yes maybe"
MissKathleen replied: "I've spent some time in a psyche ward. It gives you a safe and supervised place to change, increase or decrease your medication levels. Sounds like you need that kind of help. If you were in the hospital now, they would know exactly what to do for you after your bad reaction to your meds taken all at once. Good luck!"
I have bad insomnia. How do I get to sleep at night and stay awake during the day? I have already tried drugs such as Ambien, Lunesta and Rozerem. I am currently on several drugs which are supposed to have a sedative effect - examples include Klonopin and Geodon. I can't sleep past 3:30am if I stay up all day. I can't sleep past 12:30 am if I nap.
Holly replied: "I highly suggest getting rid of all those meds and try sequel ,its a mood stabilizer and help to sleep .I'm hard to knock out even with Anestassia ,but this works .wish you the best .do u know what causes this to happen .?"
shazzy girl replied: "you need to exercise, and put yourself on a strict schedule of what time you go to be and wake up, your body will eventually adjust."
georgette replied: "Dang... lots of stuff there. Ok, do this for a week... take 2 tablespoons of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon combined w/ boiled water... drink it before you go to sleep... and 30 min before breakfast ...
If you don't tolerate cinnamon for some reason, take just 2 tablespoons of honey before bed. If you don't fall asleep in 30 min, take two more.... to kick start it, take 2 tablespoons every 30 min, until you fall asleep.
Ambien Lunesta and Rozerem only work until a point, and when they reached the threshold the stop working.
Honey is a natural remedy for anxiety and insomnia... (and a heap of all other things) and the sugar in it is actually not detrimental like the real sugar..
If you want to read more, go to
My mom actually cured my dad of insomnia by administering him 2 tablespoons of honey every 15-20 minutes - he was sleeping like a baby in a week. You will need to take this for about that much ( a week) if your insomnia is that bad... Good luck!"
fragle2c replied: "if u drink alot of caffien and or suggar
cut back
if u avoid caffien try making coffee a main liquid
if i dont get my caffien fix i have same prob plus headach"
2105RBT9328 replied: "Try Benadryl ... take two ... it has the same ingredients as OTC. sleep aids. Drink nothing with caffeine for several hours before bed time. As caffeine wears off it will make you "crash" and sleep a couple of hours and then be wide awake.
Try going to bed later. Sometimes 4 to 5 hours of good sleep is better than trying to sleep longer.
Try a sleep clinic where they monitor your sleep for sleep apnea"
Violet Pearl replied: "Forget drugs- try some herb. Valerian has been used for 1000 years. Take 3-4 capsules a night and within a week you'll be sleeping well"
PAPU replied: "Did you consult doctor?Taking medicines of your own could be harmful.
Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at useful

Geodon and Sleep? I just took my first Geodon 80mg and Topamax 25 mg.
How long will it take for me to get sleepy?
He took me off of lexapro and Ambien and put me on this. Does this sound better? I hope so.
Crazymeds!!! I love it! That is a funny name for a website.lol. I dont plan on going out. My doctor wants me to sleep
Alex62 replied: "You should know within a few hours how sleepy you'll be. Definitely don't go out!
A good website for info on psych meds is There's info on Geodon and the button to the talk board is at the top left."
candaloosa replied: "Well...I have been on Geodon for anxiety and ended up having to ween myself off of it ...my physician did not tell me there was a dependency...that stuff basically puts you in acoma...its the deepest sleep i ever had...and make sure you have 8 hours to sleep because if you have to get up before the med is done ....youll have a VERY difficult time waking up enough to drive...as far as sleep goes IT WORKS...but i personally didn't like it...it's actually geared towards those who hear voices....but is used for different things...granted I didn't have a problem going to sleep before taking this...so I was irritated that without it I COULD NOT sleep....but if this is the reason your taking it...it may be good for you...it took about 45 min to get in my system ...it literally doped me up..lol...but I do hope it works well for you! Hope my feedback wasn't too negative.."
techtwosue replied: "Better isnt the best way to say it. I have no idea what your diagnosis is, so I'm not going to comment on the change in meds. You're going to have to have a little more faith in your doctor and learn to talk to him when you have questions. I've been a medication nurse on a psych unit for 33 years and I wouldnt venture an opinion on what meds you take. Going to strangers is not a good idea."
Just stopped taking Klonopin 1mg and Ambien 12.5 mg because eyes keep blinking? I'm on geodon 120mg, Wellbutrin 200 and was on Klonopin 1mg and ambien 12.5 but i've stopped taking the klonopin and ambien due to a side effect thats been bothering me alot recently. My eyes keep closing(blinking) most of the time and I have a hard time keeping them open. Could this be a side effect of Klonopin or Ambien? I've stopped taking them both and my eyes are still bothering me. I hope this isnt permanent
Alexandra A replied: "It could either be from a combination of the medications, or, just those two medications. In any case, see your doctor about this."
Jan replied: "I've never heard of this side affect of either drug. Please call your doctor right away. Does he/she know you are going off these drugs at the same time? You could have some terrible side affects. Wellbutrin is an antidepressant. Please do run all and everything past your doctor, sweetie. Good luck. This is so important."
Person5879 replied: "I used to take Ambien to help fall asleep but it made me hallucinate. So then I switched to Klonopin which worked for awhile, then stopped working.
If you are looking for a sleeping pill, try melatonin. It's available at grocery stores/Walgreens/Wal-mart in the vitamin aisle. They have different brands that range from $5-$15 for a bottle.
Melatonin is a natural substance in the body so you're putting something into your body that's already there. The body has higher levels of melatonin at night and lower levels in the morning. Melatonin regulates your sleep cycle. It's all natural so you won't have side effects. And it won't mess up your eyes!"
WoRDWiz replied: "It's just a side effect. I take all kinds of sh** for all different conditions. All side effects getting on drugs should go away in two wks. same with getting off them. Totally go the natural route for sleep remedy."
Geodon Overdose...................? What are the side-effects?
No, I'm not planning a suicide.. lol.
I'm just wondering.
I searched it up, and I didn't find much on the topic.
Is it like Ambien? Where after you overdose, you fall into a deep sleep?
Someones' Mom replied: "Overdose symptoms may include irregular heart rhythms, drowsiness, slurred speech, and unusual body movements. For a recent Geodon overdose, a healthcare provider may give certain medicines or "pump the stomach." Once the medication has been absorbed into the body, however, treatment will involve supportive care -- which consists of treating symptoms that occur as a result of the overdose.
Ambien is a hypnotic, where Geodon is an antipsychotic

bipolar 1 and can't sleep? what can i do for sleep? i'm on geodon 60mg and ambien 10mg
peter replied: "Get in touch with your doctor and get proper medical advice."
Star3 replied: "Arrange an appointment with your doctor and tell him how you can't get to sleep. It might be a side effect from the medication.
Mixing medications when you don't know the consequences can be a deadly move. So don't do it without asking the doctor."
cranmon replied: "Consult shrink. They will probably tell you to take them in the morning, and get on a regular schedule(wake up at 530am everyday for example)
Being bipolar and having insomnia aren't that unheard of. I used to take all of these antidepressants in high school(prozac, zoloft) and they made me turn from shy to the class clown. I didnt like that, so I quit, and started smoking weed. Been better ever since. So glad I am still here to have experienced that. (973)409-3274 #"
disaster girl replied: "contact your doctor before you go without sleep too long it can make you manic.
Geodon tends to have a drowsy side affect. Perhaps after consulting your doctor adjusting the time of day you take your geodon can help you get to sleep.
Also it is important when bipolar to try your best to keep a routine. A regular pattern of eating, limited caffeine, regular pattern of sleeping and waking. It helps to keep your system balanced. So if you don't have a regular schedule after you get yourself straight again this time make one. Not only will you be less likely to have difficulties but when the difficulties persist and become symptoms of a mood state like mania you will be more likely to know for sure and to notice them.
Of course I am telling you this as a person with bipolar 1 who has had a 2 litter of coke today and goes to bed anytime from 1 to 4am and wakes any time from 10am to 1pm so its easier to preach than to practice that last one."
doctors won't help with meds? hi, my husband is having anxiety/depression as well as trouble sleeping. sounds pretty common, right?
well, he has been to many docs (he's 35) and they will not prescribe him what works for him. they always load him up with pills that cause him liver damage and blood poisoning, when all he requests is ambien and valum (or kolonopin)...they perscribe geodon and paxil and lithium (really!) but they will not trust his judgement when he has a suggestion. I do, though. I have been with him a while. Should we just keep blowing $ on docs or go to mexico or what? Are there special questions to ask or ways to get what you need?
Pick A Winner replied: "I have been to more than a few docs who won't prescribe ambien or valium. In fact I have schizoaffective disoreder, pretty serious right, and the only time in the last ten years I have been given ambien was in the mental hospital. As far as valium, never. Ativan and klonopin I have had but you have to understand that benzo's like valium and klonopin and a drug like ambien will only work for about 2 or 3 months. Then you not only have the same problem as you did before, the doctor now also has to deal with the addiction, and with drugs like klonopin and valium the withdraw can cause seizure and even death. There is a reason your husband isn't getting these drugs."
oshun replied: "they wont trust it because hes not a doctor. maybe hes wrong."
Am I Pretty? replied: "Doctors aren't medicine vendors.
They have reasons why certain medicines are prescribed.
Back in the good old days anybody could go to a doctor for amphetamines for weight loss. They worked but they also caused some people to have extremely high blood pressure which led to kidney damage or a stroke.
If you don't agree with the doctor then get a second opinion."
lucky bamboo replied: "I know. I was loaded up with antidepressants and blood pressure medications until one day I collapsed in a train station. THEN I got my Valium.
If they'd just done that, I wouldn't have collapsed and had to spend thousands of NHS money determining the cause. Plus the actual harm to my body that that person did.
They really are too paranoid about benzodiazepine medications. Yes, they can be problematic but not for everyone. I was on them for months and months, with not even the slightest problem coming off.
The side effects of all the SSRIs were worse. I think a lot of Doctors do enjoy power and control."
Earl s replied: "I'm bipolar , take lithium with great results. I just take regular blood tests to check the levels.
Ask the doctor about Seroquel, it helps with depression & anxiety. It also helped me sleep.
don't believe what you have heard about Mexico. I've gone to TJ & found they don't sell all the same meds at the regular pharmacies. You have to see a Mexican doctor & go to a specially licensed pharmacy for some.
In addition, the Customs agents sometimes seize meds when you cross the border unless you have an American Rx. It is illegal to have a prescription med without a Rx. Usually they don't care, depends what it is."
